What's inside
- 1. Read this passage about spring: When spring arrives, many exciting changes happen in nature. One of the most noticeable changes is that days become longer and temperatures grow warmer. The sun rises earlier each morning and sets later each evening. This extra sunlight and warmth signal to plants and animals that winter is over. Plants respond to spring's longer days by starting to grow again. Trees that lost their leaves in autumn begin to grow new buds. These buds slowly open into fresh green leaves. Flowers push up through the soil and bloom in many colors. Grass turns green again after being brown and dormant all winter. Many animals become more active in spring. Birds that flew south for the winter return to their northern homes. They build nests and lay eggs to raise their young. Other animals like bears wake up from hibernation feeling very hungry. Squirrels and rabbits search for fresh plants to eat after months of limited food. Spring is a season of renewal and growth. The combination of longer days, warmer temperatures, and increased rainfall creates perfect conditions for life to flourish. Both plants and animals take advantage of spring to grow, reproduce, and prepare for the busy summer months ahead. What is the main idea of paragraph 1?
